Huize Frankendael is located in the waterfraafsmeer polder that was drained in 1629.
The Frankendael house was built around 1700, named after the Protestant German refuge Frankenthal.
To the right of the fountain is Neptune the god of the sea with his trident, to the left is Amphitrite, 

inbetween a figure on a dolphin playing a lyre.
