The North Sea Canal is 21 km long and connects the North Sea with the port of Amsterdam.
The excavation work started in 1885 as a project to combat unemployment, the canal was dug with shovels and wheelbarrow.
In 1876 it was completed and opened by King William III.
The Marlin Magnetic is a tanker, 183 meters long and 32m wide, sailing under the Singapore flag.
