The concert hall was created by a private initiative and opened on April 11, 1888.

Architect van Gendt was inspired by the concert hall in Leipzig.

It has four concert halls, the main hall is one of the best concert halls in the world

and can accommodate two thousand people.

The hall has a reverberation time of 2.8 seconds (without an audience)

and is home to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Jazz and pop concerts were given

in the 60s and 70s by Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The Who
