No man's land

Amsterdam Atlas

collage: 13 photos

format: 130 x 40 cm

The new entrance and exit of the Foodcenter Amsterdam will be built on this piece of no man's land.
In connection with the construction of apartments at the front (see Panurbana 140),
the companies moved from the current Foodcenter to the rear of the site.
Of the approximately 70 companies, there is only room for 50 companies on the new – much smaller – wholesale site.
Until 2014, a caravan camp of fairground operators was located in the no man's land (winter resting place).
Due to the renovation of the site, the caravan camp had to disappear.
The caravan residents are spread over several locations in the city (Tuindorp Oostzaan and Willem de Zwijgerlaan).
There are currently a total of 192 pitches at 18 caravan locations in Amsterdam.
